During the second half of the summer term we used the Egyptian Cinderella by Shirley Climo as the basis of lots of fantastic literacy work. This led to the children eventually planning and writing their own versions- each changing the main character's name and appearance, her job and her master, and the way in which her gift was taken to the pharaoh before he finally found her and chose her to be his queen. The children each chose a section of their story to read aloud.
